experimental video (3:30 minutes), 2014

An experimental video work that posthumously returns to the locations documented in the artist’s father’s super 8 film of the Hikawa Maru which is on display in Yokohama nearby the artist’s artist residency site. Layers of moving images overlap what was taken in the past in the 1960s as ‘home video’ footage for her father’s first trip ‘back’ to Japan with his new son and the present day visit by the artist to these and other sites of familial memory.
